After playing as the Bader’s Big Band under the Douglas Bader Foundation for many years, when the charity closed its doors the players in the big band felt strongly that they didn't want to disband. In 2025 we managed to re-establish ourselves as the Bader Heritage Band, and now we are proud that we are still able to deliver our message as the Uk’s first disabled Big Band.

Music-wise we strive to produce a quality professional sound and are very versatile, being able to field a full big band, jazz combo, sax ensemble, or ceilidh band anywhere in the country. We are also available for education, workshops and talks and we are very much interested in the welfare side of communities too. We are always on the lookout for opportunities to spread our message and to perform.

The band is comprised of musicians with a physical, sensory or mental health condition plus a couple of non-disabled support players and our message of empowerment, enjoyment and excellence in music making whatever the odds has not and will not change. Our members are from all over the country and we enjoy the social side as well as the music when we are together. We have fun playing the music and spending time in the company of other wonderful and like-minded people, spreading awareness at the same time.
