We are proud to announce that….
Bader Heritage Band has arisen from Bader’s Big Band

We were deeply saddened by the fact that the Douglas Bader Foundation – our parent organisation – closed its doors in 2024, after 42+ fantastic years of supporting disability in so many ways.

Being the first disabled band in the UK was an amazing concept and we decided we couldn’t let the band close with the charity as it has such an important and timeless message to keep delivering – we have had some fantastic support from James and his team @ Bader Media Entertainment cic

The band is comprised of musicians with a physical, sensory or mental health condition plus a couple of non-disabled support players and our message of empowerment, enjoyment and excellence in music making whatever the odds has not and will not change

Music wise, we strive to produce a quality professional sound and we are very versatile being able to field a full Big Band, A Jazz Combo, Sax Ensemble, or Ceilidh Band anywhere in the country. We are also available for education, workshops and talks and we are very much invested in the welfare side of communities too. We are always on the look out for opportunities to perform.

As band members we rehearse and perform for the sheer love of playing and as such it is on a voluntary basis – we ensure that wherever possible no member is ever out of pocket for any events or rehearsals we do. We pay public transport/fuel costs, and overnight accommodation after this the money we get goes in to running the band. We are constantly looking for ways to fund raise to keep us going and to spread our message as we were left with nothing.

Our members are from all over the country and we enjoy the social side as well as the music when we are together. We have fun playing the music and spending time in the company of other wonderful and like-minded people, spreading awareness at the same time.

We also have an excellent pastoral team too!
